Terrace Downs


Terrace Downs is a unique New Zealand getaway destination located in the heart of a rural Canterbury High Country community and within close proximity to various ski fields.

This luxury resort features deluxe accommodation, award winning cuisine and an 18-hole championship golf course with stunning views up to Mt Hutt.


Terrace Downs makes for an exciting and memorable all-seasons leisure and conference destination.

Depart Hotel Grand Chancellor at 11.30am and spend an hour travelling through lovely countryside.

Arrive at Terrace Downs and enjoy a delicious lunch while you take in the magnificent views, and enjoy this luxurious lodge.

From 1.30pm to 3.00pm you will enjoy clay bird shooting, archery and a closest to the pin golf competition all based at Terrace Downs. Groups of 10 will also be taken to the river for a 10-15 minute jet boat ride


At 3:00pm depart for Christchurch to allow sufficient time to shower and change in preparation for the evening’s activities.

Please note that if there any cancellations within 30 days of the date of the tour then there can be no refund.  This is a condition set by the venue.

Great Hall, Arts Centre, Christchurch


Formally opened on Diploma Day, 29 August 1882, the Great Hall was the symbolic focus of the College. In its early days, the Great Hall housed the University's small library. Public lectures and formal occasions, such as graduation, were also held there. Nowadays, the Great Hall is in regular use throughout the year for a wide variety of events and performances designed to showcase, celebrate and support local creativity

Architectural features include kauri panelling and Oamaru Stone, a working fireplace and a magnificent stained glass window on the Hall's north wall.
Join with us as we open the 60th Trafinz Conference to celebrate our achievements and look forward to the future.

Wigram Airforce Museum

60 years of Trafinz will be celebrated with a “Diamonds are Forever” evening.  Themed to James Bond’s movie, at the unique Wigram Airforce Museum, entertainment and food is guaranteed to be amazing.

Dress for the evening can be formal, semi-formal or fancy dress for a James Bond evening.  Over to you….

 

Tuesday Lunch - Tuesday 9 September 11.30am to 2.00pm 

11.30am to 2.00pm       There are two options for lunch as follows:

1) Mona Vale

Transport options include:

  1. A leisurely 15 to 30 minute walk;
  2. 10 minute cycle ride
  3. Bus ride
Through Hagley Park, enjoying the beautiful spring blossom to arrive at Historic Mona Vale Homestead a charming restaurant a surrounded by 5.5 hectares of elegant gardens, landscaped along the banks of the tranquil Avon River. The turn of the century architecture in its picture-book setting reflects the old English character for which Christchurch is widely renowned.

2) Hinton’s Vineyard

Hinton's is the cellar door of Hinton Estate Vineyard, and is located just on the outskirts of Christchurch.  Nestled amongst beautiful gardens and grapevines it offers a magical atmosphere in which to enjoy superb wine and food, great coffee and friendly hospitality. 


Transport options include
:

  1. A 45 minute to one hour cycle ride where you will experience some of Christchurch’s leading cycle ways.
  2. Bus ride.

Once at Hinton’s you can take part in one of the following

Both of these venues include a lovely lunch.Everyone returns to the Hotel Grand Chancellor by bus.

Cycle Tour

if you opt to travel by cycle there is an additional charge of $25.00 per bike.  Sorry but we can’t co-ordinate private cycles.  If you wish to bring these then you need to arrange your own return of them at the conclusion of lunch.

Visit to Akaroa

 Banks Peninsula's beauty spots are very accessible by road - take some time to explore its more remote bays on touring routes.  © Akaroa Harbour Driving across Banks Peninsula to Akaroa, a unique old French town, through incredible scenery is stunning. Take your time to enjoy the art & culture, the scenery, the many heritage attractions and gardens.

Enjoy lunch at Bully Hayes.  

Call into Barry’s Bay Cheese Factory for a chance to taste and purchase their cheeses.

 The French Farm Winery & Restaurant is the perfect place for a stop on the way back, time permitting.

Return to city around 4.30pm.


Tuesday 9 September

Tour around Christchurch City



In the morning visit the Antarctic Attraction brings Antarctica to the world.  Explore the ice caves and see the penguins and everything else this unique venue has to offer – there is no other facility like this in the world. 


Climb aboard the amazing Hagglund, the Antarctic all-terrain amphibian vehicle!  Buckle up and experience travelling across wild Antarctic terrain in this unique and exciting machine!

Meet up with partners for lunch at either Hinton’s Vineyard or Mona Vale.




In the afternoon jump on the tram where the 2.5 kilometre track allows you to take in many of the "must see" attractions. These include Cathedral Square, The Arts Centre, The Art Gallery, Botanical Gardens, Canterbury Museum, Punting on the Avon (as an optional extra), New Regent Street and Cathedral Junction to name just a few. A memorable afternoon tea will be arranged in one of Canterbury's historic Coffee Houses.  Return to city around 4.30pm.


Wednesday 10 September

Jo Seagar’s Cook School

Depart by bus at 9.00am to travel to Seagars at Oxford Cook School, where you arrive for coffee and fresh-from-the-oven muffins at 10.00am. 

Spend a day in the kitchen with Jo – and then retreat to the private dining room for a celebration around the table. There is nothing that Jo likes more than to gather family and friends in the kitchen and around the table. The cook school is designed to enable you to share that experience with your friends and family.

Following the lesson, retire to Jo’s private dining room to savour the dishes, complimented with local wines and enjoy lively conversation.

While visiting the cook school or café take time to browse the shelves. Jo has selected kitchen items, cook books, equipment and gadgets that she uses every day. There aren't a hundred different potato peelers - just a couple of great ones that really work. Also available will be selected items from the AGA range of cookware - to compliment the AGA cooker in the cook school.

Return to city around 3.00pm.

This day is valued at $185.00 per person, but for you the cost will be $84.38.
