Tauranga is on a journey to become a talented and innovative city full of opportunity; a city of great spaces, places and environments. This position will assist us to deliver the Government's and Western Bay of Plenty's strategic direction to achieve road safety and active travel.

Reporting to the Manager: Network Safety & Sustainability this Team Leader position is both a leadership and a hands-on role. The successful candidate will lead the Travel Safe team empowering them to deliver programmes and services to deliver best practice outcomes in road safety and active travel.  This includes implementing and leading a best practice community development approach aimed all age groups.

The successful applicant will be passionate about road safety and active travel and have a clear understanding of how that translates into realistic and practical outcomes.

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

  • A passion for leading high performing team

  • Tertiary qualification plus 8- 10 years teaching, people based behavioural change environment with children and adults

  • Ability to implement the Government's Vision Zero road safety travel models

  • Enthusiasm for strengthening community action

  • Ability to communicate confidently and in a variety of ways that is appropriate for different audiences

  • An understanding of how to implement and nurture effective integrated approaches in road safety and active travel

  • Ability to establish and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders and partnerships
